A Match Made in Heaven: Upstreet + Chef Inspired = YUM
When Bill Pratt, Founder and Director of the Chef Inspired group of restaurants, saw the vacant location on Windmill Road, he approached Upstreet CEO and Co-founder Mitch Cobb about the potential of working together on a new venture. “It’s a sailor’s dream to own a brewery, and that dream has stayed with me past my service in the Navy,” Pratt says. “The partnership with Upstreet is a natural one. We’re both committed to high-quality food and beverages and share the same values of creating great experiences for our customers and employees.”
Upstreet BBQ Brewhouse will serve a wide range of Upstreet beers, including fan favourites and new brews exclusive to the location. The restaurant will be a traditional Southern BBQ experience including in-house smoked meats, rotisserie, classic sides, lighter options and shareables created to pair perfectly with the beers. Patrons will be able to enjoy the experience in the restaurant or grab BBQ and beers to go. Upstreet Co-Founder and Beer Engineer Mike Hogan will oversee brewing operations and bring the PEI craft beers to life in Dartmouth.
Though still in the early stages, collaborative beers and community outreach are already in the works, benefitting groups like the Canadian Forces. Upstreet is also planning to extend its Do Good Fund to the Nova Scotia location, where 10% of proceeds of their popular DoGooder APA is put toward local arts and culture initiatives and injected back into the community. Like Upstreet’s Prince Edward Island locations, the BBQ Brewhouse will also meet the rigorous standards of B Corp Certification.
“We’ve been fans of the Chef Inspired group of restaurants for a long time, and we love their focus on quality and value,” says Cobb. “We’re excited to expand to Nova Scotia and work with Bill to create great experiences and refresh the community.”
Upstreet BBQ Brewhouse will open September 2018 at 612 Windmill Road in Dartmouth.
